When your gaze found mine, the whole world swayed, As if the earth had missed a hidden beat; The sunlight suddenly grew unafraid, Then melted like warm gold around my feet. I tried to look away, but something stayed, A trembling little universe in you; My eyes became two doors I could not close, And every secret seemed to wander through. I felt my cheeks turn roses in the rain, A sudden fire underneath my skin; The stars began to whisper my sweet shame, While little suns kept blooming from within. Your eyes were not just eyes, they were a place, A strange blue room where gravity was gone; I wandered through the silence of your gaze And somehow lost the person I was on. My heartbeat stumbled, then forgot its name, It ran barefoot through corridors of light; I blushed as though the moon had called me beautiful, Then hid my face from heaven's watching sight. The trees leaned closer, jealous of the view, The flowers opened wider just to see; Even the wind became unusually shy, As thoug...
Some smiles are strange little planets
floating where a face should be,
with tiny moons orbiting their edges
and oceans nobody can see.
You look at them
and think... sunlight.
But sometimes
there is an entire winter
sleeping behind those teeth.
Some smiles carry houses
with no doors.
Inside them,
old memories sit at the kitchen table,
drinking cups of silence
that were never meant to be served.
Some carry forests
growing upside down inside the chest,
their roots tangled around forgotten names,
their branches reaching through the ribs
toward a sky that does not exist.
And some smiles,
God, some smiles,
carry oceans.
Deep black oceans
where yesterday's tears
have turned into silver fish
swimming around the wreckage
of things that once mattered.
Nobody sees them.
Nobody sees the little ships
sinking behind someone's eyes.
Nobody hears
the bells ringing underwater.
Nobody knows
that a person can walk through a crowded room
while carrying an entire abandoned city
inside their heart.
Some smiles carry ghosts
dressed in childhood clothes.
They sit quietly on the shoulders
and whisper things
the world has forgotten.
Some carry broken clocks
that still tick
at the exact moment
someone's heart was shattered.
Others carry bedrooms
that disappeared years ago,
beds still warm,
curtains still moving,
a forgotten photograph
breathing softly on the wall.
And then there are smiles
that carry stars.
Not the beautiful kind.
The dying kind.
Stars collapsing silently
into themselves,
turning their own light into darkness
so nobody notices
they are disappearing.
Yet somehow,
they smile.
They walk beneath ordinary skies.
They laugh.
They answer,
"I'm fine."
And the universe politely agrees.
Perhaps a smile
is not always a window.
Perhaps sometimes
it is a locked door
painted with sunlight.
Perhaps behind it
there is a person
holding back a thunderstorm
with both hands.
Perhaps the heaviest hearts
learn the brightest smiles
because they know exactly
how precious light can be.
So when you meet a smile
that seems almost too bright,
look gently.
There may be a moon
hiding behind it.
There may be a forest.
There may be an ocean.
There may be an entire universe
falling apart in complete silence.
And there may be a story there,
so strange,
so heavy,
so beautifully impossible,
that nobody
would ever guess.
