Love was never a heartbeat. It was the echo left behind after the heart forgot why it was still beating. It arrived wearing another person's face, its hands stitched together from promises that had already begun to rot. I welcomed it. Not because it was kind, but because loneliness knows how to mistake a wolf for warmth. Every smile it offered cast a longer shadow. Every whispered "forever" fed another ghost sleeping beneath my ribs. The thought of love is a clever liar. It builds cathedrals from broken mirrors, then asks us to kneel before our own reflections, calling the illusion destiny. How eagerly we obey. We water flowers that grow from graves, write poems to people who never truly existed, and embrace memories still unborn. Love watches. Silent. Patient. Like a spider waiting in the center of a web woven from hope. It never forces us inside. It simply lets us believe the silver threads are rays of morning light. By the time we understand, the sky has forgotten our ...
She was here,
for a moment
too small for the clocks to measure,
too brief for the world to understand,
yet long enough
to leave fingerprints upon a mother's soul.
A baby girl.
A whispered promise
wrapped in fragile dreams,
carried beneath a hopeful heart
that had already imagined
a thousand tomorrows.
Then came the silence.
A silence so heavy
it bent the walls inward.
A silence that settled
inside empty rooms,
inside folded blankets,
inside the spaces
where laughter was meant to grow.
The mother wept.
Not the gentle tears
that fall with ordinary sadness.
These were ancient tears.
The kind born from a wound
too deep for language,
too sacred for explanation.
She cried for first steps
that would never mark the floor.
For tiny hands
that would never reach for hers.
For lullabies
that would remain unsung,
their melodies trapped forever
inside her trembling chest.
Night after night,
she gathered her grief
like broken glass.
Each memory,
each dream,
each unanswered prayer
cut her anew.
The stars offered no comfort.
The heavens gave no reasons.
The world continued turning,
cruel in its indifference,
while her heart remained buried
beneath the weight of what could have been.
And so the seasons passed.
Winter settled where spring
had once been expected.
The flowers bloomed,
yet she could not.
The birds sang,
yet she heard only echoes.
For some losses
do not fade.
They become part of the bone,
part of the blood,
part of the shadow
a soul carries forever.
Then one quiet evening,
standing among the ashes
of shattered hopes,
she stopped asking why.
Not because the pain was gone.
Not because she had forgotten.
But because grief itself
had become a form of love.
A love with nowhere to go.
A love that would never die.
She knelt beside the ruins
of her broken dreams
and planted a single flower.
Not for goodbye.
For remembrance.
For the daughter
whose heartbeat still lived
inside her own.
The wind carried her tears away.
The earth received them gently.
And in that moment,
acceptance arrived,
not as peace,
not as healing,
but as a quiet companion
sitting beside sorrow.
The ashes remained.
The ache remained.
The love remained.
And beneath a darkening sky,
a mother learned
that some hearts never recover.
They simply learn
to carry the absence
with grace.
For though her baby girl
had become part of the stars,
she would forever remain
the most beautiful chapter
that ended
far too soon.
