When Your Hands Are Empty #poemofhope #faithpoetry #spokenwordpoetry

There will be a season when you have done all you know to do and still, nothing. No answer at the door. No sudden change. No sign in the sky telling you that tomorrow will be kinder. Just you, your unanswered prayer, and the strange silence that makes you question whether God is still listening. He is. Do not mistake silence for absence. Some of God's deepest work happens without making a sound. Roots grow in darkness. Healing happens beneath skin. Morning begins long before the window knows there is light. And somewhere beyond what you can see, your life is being moved by hands you cannot follow. So do not abandon your faith because you cannot trace God's footsteps. You were never promised a clear view. You were given enough light for the next step. Take it. Even if your knees shake. Even if your heart has questions your mouth is afraid to ask. Take it. Faith is not a life without uncertainty. It is waking up with uncertainty beside you and refusing to let it choose your direc...

Nobody Cares #inspirationalpoetry #lifefact #poetrydaily

You. Yes, you. You wake up every morning carrying the weight of your own name like the world has been waiting for you to arrive. You think about yourself. Your pain. Your dreams. Your failures. Your victories. Your reflection staring back at you as if the mirror were an audience. You wonder, What do they think of me? Do they see me? Do they understand what I have been through? But listen. Nobody. Yes, nobody cares. The world is not standing still to study your scars. People are fighting their own wars behind their smiles. Carrying their own ghosts. Hiding their own fractures. You think your heartbreak is the loudest thunder in the sky. It isn't. Somebody else is crying behind a locked door. Somebody else is losing someone. Somebody else is wondering how they will survive tomorrow. And while you are busy asking whether the world notices you, the world keeps moving. The sun rises without asking your permission. The streets fill. The clocks continue. People fall in love. People break....

I Mourned You #sadpoetry #griefpoetry #poetrydaily #poetryaddict

I know you are still alive, but I mourned you. Oh yes, I mourned you while your lungs still carried breath, while your shadow still walked beneath the sun. I buried you without a grave, because something in you had already died inside me. Your deeds were not wounds, they were knives you kept turning in the dark. You awakened a hatred I never knew my soul could hold, a cold fire that learned my name. I once saw you with the eyes of trust. Now I see only the ruins your hands left behind. You are alive, but the person I loved has no place in me anymore. I do not mourn your body. I mourn the illusion of you, the beautiful lie I mistook for a soul. And perhaps this is a darker death: to breathe, to walk, to speak, yet become a stranger in the heart of someone who once loved you. So live. Live with the weight of everything you have done. I have no grave for you, no tears left to offer. Only silence. And in that silence, I buried what I once called you. © 2026 Gloria Penelope

Nobody Leaves the Room #spokenwordpoetry #sadpoetry #poetrydaily

Death is not waiting at the end of the road. It is the road. It is the quiet thread stitched beneath every morning, the invisible hand turning the pages while we are still reading. We speak of death as though it were somewhere else, a distant country, a locked door, a name we whisper when the night becomes too honest. But death has never lived elsewhere. It has been breathing inside every breath we took. It was there when our mothers first held us, when our tiny hands closed around a finger, when we learned our first word, when we laughed so hard we forgot the world existed. Even then, time was already carrying us away. Nobody escapes. Not the man who builds a palace against the sky. Not the woman whose beauty makes mirrors jealous. Not the scholar who fills rooms with knowledge. Not the beggar who owns nothing but his shadow. The crown eventually becomes dust. The photograph fades. The strongest name becomes an unanswered question. And the grave does not recognize wealth. Death does n...

The Man I Left in the Ruins #spokenwordpoetry #poetryaddict #poem

Take him. He is no longer a wound I am compelled to touch, nor a prayer I am foolish enough to repeat. He is merely the ruin I walked out of with my hands still trembling and my soul learning the shape of its own name. You may have him. Take the mouth that once promised forever and learned the language of betrayal. Take the hands that held me only to teach me how to ache. Take the heart that mistook possession for devotion. Take all of him, the carefully rehearsed apologies, the beautiful lies, the silences sharpened into weapons, the affection that arrived only when I had forgotten how to ask for it. I have no claim on him now. He is yesterday's ash, and I have no desire to rebuild a fire from what already burned me. If he calls himself a treasure, believe him. I once did too. I polished his brokenness with the softness of my own heart, mistaking endurance for love, mistaking survival for a marriage worth saving. But some men are not meant to be rescued by love. Some are simply le...

What You Mistook for Yours #sadlove #sadpoetry #spokenwordpoetry

You thought her glow was something you had given her, a candle you could cup in your hands, shield from the wind, or snuff out when it displeased you. You never understood: some women are born carrying entire dawns inside their ribs. She came to you with constellations beneath her skin, with a tenderness that could have made a sanctuary of your ruins. You called it weakness. You mistook her patience for permission, her silence for surrender, her forgiveness for a chain you could keep pulling. So you began taking pieces of her, a little laughter, a little courage, a little faith in the word love , until even her reflection looked like a stranger asking to be rescued. Yet the light did not die. It went underground. It hid beneath the ashes, quiet as roots beneath winter, waiting for the moment she would remember that darkness had never been her true name. And when she left, she did not steal your fortune, your house, your name, or anything you once believed made you powerful. She took on...

The Fortune They Saw #sadpoetry #poetryaddict #spokenwordpoetry

They said she came for silver, for the fortune and the name, for rooms where chandeliers made even darkness shine like flame. They called her heart a marketplace, her marriage bought and sold; they never saw the winter beneath the glittering gold. They saw the diamond on her hand, but not the tremor in her breath; they saw the mansion's marble halls, but not the rooms that felt like death. They counted every gift he gave, each velvet, jewel, and rose, but never counted sleepless nights or wounds no mirror shows. They hated her for having what they thought she came to take; they painted greed upon her face and called her love a fake. But gold cannot buy tenderness, nor wealth make cruelty kind; a gilded cage is still a cage when sorrow lives inside. She learned to walk through quiet rooms, to swallow every plea, to wear her pain beneath her skin where no one else could see. And when at last she left the house, they waited for her greed, for jewels tucked beneath her coat, for treasu...

When She Became a Ghost to Him #sadpoetry #creativewriting #poetrydaily

He loved her once, perhaps, or called possession by that name, and built a kingdom out of silence, where tenderness was punished and fear wore a wedding ring. Her home became a house of shadows, its walls learning the language of her cries. She became fluent in footsteps, in the sudden closing of doors, in the weather of his temper. She carried bruises beneath her sleeves like forbidden constellations, each one a map of where she had been broken and where she had survived. He told her she was nothing without the man who diminished her. So she began to make herself smaller, a whisper in the hallway, a breath beneath the floorboards, a woman slowly disappearing inside her own skin. But even ashes remember fire. Somewhere beneath the years of fear, a small and stubborn light remained. It whispered through the darkness: You were not born to be someone's battlefield. So one night, while the moon kept its distance and the house slept beneath its secrets, she gathered the remnants of hers...

When the Night Says "Enough" #sadpoetry #inspirational #poetrydaily

To the one who walks beneath a sky that seems to know only storms, whose pockets are heavy with invisible stones, whose smile has become a language spoken only for other people. I hope these words find you like rain finds thirsty ground: quietly, without asking permission. You have carried more silence than anyone should have to carry. You have learned the weight of empty rooms, the ache of unanswered questions, the strange exhaustion of simply making it to tomorrow. When the world feels sharpened against you, remember this: Even mountains are carved by years of relentless wind, yet they do not apologize for the valleys they hold. Even the ocean, vast and fearless, cannot escape its tides. It rises. It falls. Still, it remains the sea. So if tonight your heart is low, it is not the whole story. It is only one page in a book still learning how to become dawn. Do not mistake the darkness for the end of the sky. Stars have always lived there, waiting for the light to step aside. There are...

Don't Ask Yourself Why #sadpoetry #naturepoetry #poetrydaily

Don't ask yourself why you became a season before your time. The earth has never owed its flowers an explanation. Nature wanted it this way, not because loss is beautiful, but because permanence would have silenced the wind. Look at the trees. They never decide when to become less. They simply awaken one morning to the invisible hands of the sky undoing them, leaf by leaf, until every green memory learns the language of falling. Still, their roots remain conversing with darkness as though light were only a rumor that keeps its promises. Perhaps that is what faith is: to be emptied without believing you have ended. The branches, thin as unanswered prayers, continue pointing upward even after the birds have mistaken them for abandoned places. There is a wisdom the leaves never carry, only the trunk can know: that what departs does not betray the tree; it fulfills it. So when the wind writes its invisible scripture across your life, do not interrupt it with the question why . The fore...

Someone Else Holds the Light #lovepoem #poetrydaily

There was a time when my name lived easily on your lips, when tomorrow seemed certain, and we believed love alone could outrun the small fractures that slowly became fault lines. I mourned us long before we ended. Not because I stopped loving, but because I could feel my heart becoming a place where echoes lived instead of answers. Love is a curious thing. It cannot survive where honesty is rationed, where kindness arrives only by chance, where laughter forgets how to visit. It wilts in the shadow of words left unsaid, of promises bent by convenience, of affection offered only when it costs nothing. So I laid down what I could no longer carry. And time, that patient sculptor, placed my heart into different hands. Hands that do not tighten to prove they care, but open. A soul that knows love is found in listening, care in the ordinary, truth in the difficult conversations, and humor that never comes at another's expense. Now I laugh without wondering when silence will return. Now I ...

The Measure of the Sea #naturepoetry #poetrydaily #poetryaddict

Who has ever reached the end of water, or counted the thoughts hidden beneath a quiet tide? The sea does not reveal its heart to those who only skim its surface. It keeps its oldest stories where sunlight surrenders, where silence becomes a language older than memory. There, in the unseen depths, life begins without applause. The greatest wonders have never needed witnesses. So it is with kindness. It is rarely the loud declaration that changes the world, but the unnoticed gesture, a hand extended before it is asked, a burden shared without complaint, a forgiveness offered when justice alone would seem enough. Kindness flows as rivers find the ocean: not because they are commanded, but because giving is their truest direction. And humanity, for all its fractures, has endured not by the strength of stone, nor by the sharpness of steel, but by the quiet courage of those who chose compassion when cruelty promised an easier victory. The deepest waters hold the greatest pressure, yet they c...

It's Not About You #poemaday #poetryaddict #poem

The mountain never bowed to applause, Nor did the river pause for tears. The sky has carried a thousand storms Without remembering a single face. You are a traveler, not the road. A heartbeat, not the clock. The world was already speaking Long before it learned your name. Some goodbyes bloom from seasons, Not from mistakes. Some distances are drawn by time, Not by the hands that reach across them. Don't make yourself the author Of every unfinished sentence. Some pages are left blank Because silence belongs there. There is a strange mercy In not standing at the center Of every ending, Of every change. The sun does not rise to prove a point. The stars do not dim to send a message. Life simply unfolds, Wild, indifferent, beautiful. So carry your kindness, Leave your footprints lightly, And when the world turns without asking, Smile. It's not about you. That's how it is. © 2026 Gloria Penelope

Love's Dark Reflection #lovepoetry #poetrydaily #poemaday

Love was never a heartbeat. It was the echo left behind after the heart forgot why it was still beating. It arrived wearing another person's face, its hands stitched together from promises that had already begun to rot. I welcomed it. Not because it was kind, but because loneliness knows how to mistake a wolf for warmth. Every smile it offered cast a longer shadow. Every whispered "forever" fed another ghost sleeping beneath my ribs. The thought of love is a clever liar. It builds cathedrals from broken mirrors, then asks us to kneel before our own reflections, calling the illusion destiny. How eagerly we obey. We water flowers that grow from graves, write poems to people who never truly existed, and embrace memories still unborn. Love watches. Silent. Patient. Like a spider waiting in the center of a web woven from hope. It never forces us inside. It simply lets us believe the silver threads are rays of morning light. By the time we understand, the sky has forgotten our ...
